St. Patrick's Church Historic Landmark
West Palm Beach, FL
HISTORIC
“Preserving the past is not nostalgia—it is a foundation for identity, memory, and meaning in the places we inhabit today.”
The historic renovation of St. Patrick’s Church presented an opportunity to preserve not just a structure, but a symbol of enduring faith and cultural resilience in West Palm Beach’s Northwest community. Originally built in 1925, the church stands as one of the city’s few remaining examples of Mission Revival architecture and holds deep roots in the local Black Catholic community. Our approach honored both the architectural integrity of this landmark and the generational stories it represents—treating the building not as a relic, but as a living vessel for worship, memory, and connection.
The renovation prioritized restoring defining elements such as the curved parapets, original stucco finishes, and arched windows, while sensitively integrating modern upgrades to meet present-day standards for safety, accessibility, and use. Guided by the church’s historic designation, we worked closely with preservation consultants and community members to ensure that every intervention respected the spiritual and social heritage embedded in the space. The result is a carefully restored sanctuary that bridges nearly a century of history with a renewed capacity to serve its congregation and neighborhood for decades to come.
