CIVIC

“Great architecture begins with community—designed with purpose, built with care, and captured to reflect the heart of the people it serves.”

The Eva W. Mack Community Hub was an opportunity to design a space that honors both legacy and progress. Named after West Palm Beach’s first Black female mayor—a champion for public health and equity—we envisioned the building as a vibrant civic center that could carry forward her spirit of service. Designed to house a mix of nonprofits, public amenities, and shared workspaces, the hub serves as a physical and symbolic intersection for community connection and care.

Our approach was rooted in storytelling and inclusion. The building’s central spine acts as an internal town square, filled with daylight and animated by color, texture, and purposeful geometry. We used architectural elements to reflect the identity of each organization while tying them together in a cohesive whole. Preserving mature oak trees and integrating historical imagery allowed us to acknowledge the site’s complex past, reclaim its narrative, and offer a space that is open, empowering, and deeply rooted in place.
